Continuando com as ervinhas aromáticas maravilhosas da Aromáticas Vivas. Hoje vou falar-vos de Coentros e de Hortelã-Menta.

Coentros

"Planta de folhas verdes, que apesar de mais arredondadas, são parecidas com as da Salsa. É uma planta com um cheiro e gosto característico e as suas folhas são macias."

Como utilizar

Como tem um sabor intenso é ótimo tanto para tempero como para condimento. Os Coentros são perfeitos para pratos de peixe e/ou marisco, açordas e sopas.

Benefícios

Esta erva tem "propriedades anti-inflamatórias e antibacterianas", é rica em ferro e vitamina C e melhora a motilidade (conjunto de movimentos que ocorrem no interior do tubo digestivo) e as secreções gástricas

Hortelã-Menta

"A Hortelã-Menta é uma planta herbácea vivaz e vigorosa. De um corte nascem várias ramificações. Possui folhas eretas e um aroma forte e agradável. Poderão aparecer folhas pretas ou amarelas na base da Hortelã-Menta, visto que existe uma falta de luz no centro da planta a partir de uma certa altura."

Como utilizar

Esta erva é perfeita para saladas, sopas, sobremesas de chocolate, gelados e cocktails.

Benefícios

Rica em vitaminas A, B, C, cálcio, fósforo, ferro e potássio. Tem propriedades analgésicas, anticancerígenas e antifúngicas. Ajuda na má digestão e azia, no alívio de dores abdominais e musculares. É também ótima para curar gripes.

Sendo eu do Norte, não uso muito Coentros, mas depois de experimentar fiquei fã.

Como dizem que é perfeito para pratos de peixe e marisco, fiz um belo arroz de tamboril com camarão e claro, adicionei um pouco de Coentros. Ficou uma maravilha.

Sabem aqueles chocolates com menta (tipo After Eight)? Pois é, não gosto. Mas adoro cocktails com folhas de Hortelã-Menta.

Por isso mesmo, decidi arriscar e deitar umas folhinhas na Mousse de Chocolate (caseira). Não posso dizer que adorei, mas sem dúvida que deu um "toque" especial. Aconselho a experimentar, mesmo a quem (como eu) não aprecia menta no chocolate.

Continuing with the wonderful aromatic herbs from Aromáticas Vivas. Today I am going to tell you about Coriander and Mint.

Coriander

Plant with green leaves, which although more rounded, are similar to Salsa's. It is a plant with a characteristic smell and taste and its leaves are soft

How to use

As it has an intense flavor it's great for both seasoning and condiment. The Coriander is perfect for fish and/or seafood dishes, açordas (portuguese dish with soaked bread) and soups.

Benefits

This herb has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, is rich in iron and vitamin C and improves motility (set of movements that occur within the digestive tract) and gastric secretions.

Mint

Mint is a lively and vigorous herbaceous plant. Several branches arise from a cut. It has upright leaves and a strong and pleasant aroma. Black or yellow leaves may appear at the base, as there's a lack of light in the center of the plant from a certain height.

How to use

This herb is perfect for salads, soups, chocolate desserts, ice creams and cocktails.

Benefits

Rich in vitamins A, B, C, calcium, phosphorus, iron and potassium. It has analgesic, anticancer and antifungal properties. It helps in bad digestion and heartburn, in the relief of abdominal and muscular pains. It is also great for curing colds.

Being from North of Portugal, I don't use much Coriander, but after trying, I became a fan.

As they say it is perfect for fish and seafood dishes, I made a beautiful monkfish rice with shrimp and of course, I added a little coriander. It was wonderful.

Do you know those chocolates with mint (like After Eight)? I don't like them. But I love cocktails with mint leaves.

For that reason, I decided to take a chance and throw some leaves in the Chocolate Mousse (homemade). I can't say I loved it, but it certainly gave it a special "touch". I advise you to try it even if you (like me) don't appreciate mint in chocolate.
